Our Challenge
The Diksha Project deals with needy children with a traumatic past, working to give them a better future, through personalized sponsorship or with occasional financial contributions, thus guaranteeing their education.
These children have been carefully selected among many. They come from families that belong to the lowest castes, they are the poorest among the poor. They have suffered a harrowing and traumatic experience due to the loss of one or both parents for various reasons: death, AIDS, disability or abandonment.
The Value of giving a help
Most children have not yet been able to overcome this experience that changed their lives: they continue to suffer from nightmares, fears and anxieties that make it impossible or very difficult for them to socialize and lead a normal life.
In cases of AIDS, either the child or their parents, they face constant rejection in their home towns as they are automatically marginalized in their own communities.
Because of the loss of one of the parents, the family's economic situation is drastically affected, since both contributed to providing the means of living.
The project started with 18 children and during the last 5 years 272 children have already been part of the program. Currently, the Diksha association looks after 230 children, but there are still 28 waiting and needing urgent help.
There are many actions that the NGO Diksha carries out, thanks to the financial support it receives, to help these children and their families, when they really need it.
How can we help you
Education
Teaching in private schools, since the public is very basic.
Uniforms and books.
Reinforcement classes when due to illness or serious family problems, they lower their school level and need it.
Vocational training and university studies. They are helped until they can support themselves and are self-sufficient.
Other areas
Clothes, when they need it
Basic foods monthly
Reforms and urgent repairs in their homes, such as roofs to protect themselves from the cold and rain, and toilets since many of them lack these.
Health
Medicines needed for when they get sick
Private medical reviews
Urgent surgical operations and hospitalization
HIV-positive children
Monthly review by private medical specialists
Annual analytical viral load in blood. Indian public health does not and is very expensive. It is very important to know if they are resistant or allergic to the medicine they receive (We have already lost 3 children)
In these cases they are given private medicines (they are very expensive)
SUPPORT this project and help maintain this program! Together we can spread it and get funding for each of these children.
All of them strive to stand out in their studies with great hope that education will help them value themselves and integrate in society and will give them the opportunity to live with dignity.
In diksha we do not lose hope and we keep fighting for them.
